Deborah S. Kurtz is an accomplished Partner with over 35 years of legal experience and concentrates her efforts advocating for victims of medical malpractice and personal injury. She is known for her tireless and passionate dedication towards ensuring that her clients receive the utmost attention with the best possible outcome.

Deborah’s understanding of the law and her authentic and sincere approach have made a significant impact on the cases she has successfully resolved. In addition to her total commitment to her clients, Deborah is a firm believer in the law and its ability to generate change. Her goal is not only to obtain a favorable outcome, but also to make a significant impact on the physicians and institutions that caused the injury. It is her hope is that by obtaining a positive result, similar acts of malpractice will not be committed in the future.

Deborah’s medical malpractice experience includes representing individuals who have been seriously and permanently injured. Wrongful death, failure to diagnose/misdiagnosis, failure to timely treat, surgical errors, improper treatment of infections, birth injuries, and hospital negligence are just some of the medical malpractice cases Deborah has taken on in the past. Personal injury cases she has litigated include motor vehicle accidents, slip/trip and fall accidents, and labor law violations.

Outside of the firm, Deborah’s passion for the law extends to participating as a member of the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers and the Nassau Suffolk Trial Lawyers Association.

Deborah began her law career after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from Queens College. She received her Juris Doctor from Maurice A. Dean School of Law at Hofstra University and was admitted to the Bar in 1984. She is permitted to practice law in both the New York State and Federal courts. Deborah was excited to join SSKB in October 2018 and bring her many years of experience of representing plaintiffs in medical malpractice and personal injury law to the firm.
